Perquisite: Introduction to Food Occupations I & II
* Advance culinary skills by preparing challenging recipes
* Research and develop professional skills associated
with running a business

Child Development Course Offerings

Parenting & Child Development (HE 8284)
Half credit, Grades 9-12, One Block
* Investigate issues related to parenting, genetic & environmental
affects on children
* Recognize the physical, social & emotional development of
children
* Examine the health and safety practices for children
* Explore careers in child care services

Introduction to Child Care Occupations (HE 8283)
Half credit, Grade 10-12, One Block
Prerequisite: Child Development/Parenting
* Research a chosen career
* Demonstrate employment skills
* Recognize child development areas
* Analyze guidance techniques
* Plan and carryout classroom program
for a teaching unit in preschool

Design Course Offerings

Introduction to Design I (HE 8248)
One credit, Grades 9-12, One Block
* Study of design that includes the relationships that exist among all areas of
home furnishings, fashion, and housing design industry
* Exploration of careers in color, design, and interior environment industries
* Develop employability skills

Introduction to Design II (HE 8255)
One credit, Grades 10-12, One Block
* Students study advanced design to develop skills necessary for a career in the
design industry
* Areas of study will include the application of those skills acquired in the first
year program as well as in-depth selection an construction of home furnishings
* Develop employability skills
* Develop a business plan

Resource Management for Independent Living (HE 8250)
One Credit, Grades 9-12, One Block
A comprehensive study of:
* Planning for marriage
* Parenting skills
* Food preparation
* Consumer survival skills
* Clothing construction and care
